Mexican Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cocoa powder

  • 2 ¼ cup sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 cup boiling water

  • 10 cups whole milk

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ cups half and half

  • 2 tsp ancho chili powder

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Steps

  1. Combine the cocoa powder, sugar, salt, chili powder and cinnamon in a pot.

  2. Add in the boiling water. 

  3. Stir until all of the dry ingredients have been fully incorporated into the water. 

  4. Next add in the milk and heat to almost boiling, be careful not to scorch the milk. 

  5. Once hot add in the vanilla and remove from the heat. 

  6. Pour the hot chocolate into cups and add in the half and half to cool to drinking temperature and enjoy.
